ABOUT SIYANDA

We are establishing a community homestead and communiversity that will provide

sustenance, shelter, education and nation-building training for the initial residents and

citizens (at home and “abroad”) of our new home and haven.

With a continued mutually healthy relationship with Mahala Farms, Siyanda Land will

reinforce those aspects of nationhood by securing ourselves through education and

practical application. As the land mass expands, the landscape of our city will take shape

with elements of living we tend to associate with progressive communities. Our

beginning, with respect to this initial fifteen acres, will be used as a training ground

towards the cultural practices and spirit of our nation.

To set our base we’ll build some nyumbani ya kibanda (cabin homes) for our families and

visitors alike to reside in as well as lodging opportunities for gatherings and advances

(the term I tend to use in place of retreats).

We’ll design a luscious edible landscape using indigenous sustainable agriculture

techniques (permaculture) of fruits, vegetables, beans, berries and herbs available to all

our families and friends. We’ll also cultivate various livestock and farm animals to

contribute to the general ecology of the land.

Within these intentions, there are multiple profitable opportunities to support all of our

citizens. This first fifteen acres provides for us the experience and insight to thrive

together and strive together and learn to actualize what it means to be the

blacktastically wonderful divine Afrakans we truly are.

We are afforded the advantages of innovation and our own imagination to define our

freedom according to our own powers upon lands that will be ours collectively for

generations to come.
